The Enigma of ‘not understanding’ can be discomforting, but it is also reassuring, in that it proposes that there is more to know. It’s not what you see but ‘what you don’t see’ that extends the imagination.
Art allows us to investigate that which we consider, and that which we see and experience, in both the conscious and subconscious world. It is because of this extension through drawing and painting that the ‘irrational’ as image or idea can emerge as a contender for our attention.
