Still life painting provided the ideal laboratory conditions which informed cubism at the beginning of the 20th century. The investigation was about the interaction of form and space.  In the studio the still life object  occupies the proximal space. Inanimate forms can be contrived and presented in any possible combination. My still life paintings include social commentary towards an edgy presentation that would otherwise be safe and domestic. The works are presented parallel to the picture plane and rely on compression as a means to inform pictorial space.
